For the second instalment of its design series Werkstück Edition, German DIY store HORNBACH teamed up with Japanese architect Yo Shimada to create a multi-layered coffee table to be built at home.
Called Utsuri, the small modular coffee table uses only standard materials available at any hardware store and offers flexible uses to cater to limited urban living spaces. The neon spray-painted undersides are inspired by puddle reflections of Shimada’s native Kobe and create a warm glow of colour on the white table surface below that varies depending on the time of day.
